“Growing up I was always taught and told constantly having straight hair is beautiful and my natural curly hair was considered to be nappy. “Just for Me” relaxers, thinning out the hair even straightening my hair with the clothing iron it was all done to me since I was a young girl. Into my adult hood I was also told curly hair was not professional in any work field. I found myself wanting nothing more than to have straight hair, my look was never complete or I didn’t feel “beautiful” enough if I didn’t have my hair straighten. Weekly trips to the hair salon not to mention the daily morning and mid day flat iron routine became the new norm! One day Jackie came to me & said “you should let me do your hair!” I couldn’t help to think she was crazy and couldn’t handle my hair at it’s natural “nappy” state. Until a few weeks later I realized my hair had reached its breaking point literally! I straighten my hair so much it burnt off over time. My hair that once reached mid back barely reached my shoulders. I knew I needed to make change, I wanted to rock my natural hair so I finally reached out to Jackie. My first time at Jackie’s Beauty Bar beat the hundreds of other salon trips I’ve ever made. I wasn’t rushed in & out. Jackie sincerely cared she wanted to know more about my hair concerns not only for that one appointment but she wanted to know my long term hair goals. She helped me with the right products and hair routine. A miracle didn’t happen over night lol but Jackie ensured me with a lot of patience and dedication my hair will grow and curls will come back. Jackie educated me and guided me during my entire healthy hair journey it didn’t just stop at my first appointment. My healthy hair journey was not easy but definitely worth it! I embrace my curls everywhere now I find myself more confident & beautiful with my healthy curly hair then I ever did with straight hair. This was my first Deva Cut and Jackie did amazing!! I had hair past my waist, we did a major chop and my hair looks amazing! My hair looks so healthy and refreshed, my curls are looking great. Jackie is a curl transformation phenom!!!! I have been getting exclusively Deva cuts since 2010 – I’ve been to all the salons in NYC and have used a number of very talented stylists. Jackie tops them all – she gave me the best cut and curl transformation I have ever had. She is funny, kind, knowledgeable, professional. She was patient and listened to my hair frustrations and taught me new ways to use products that I thought I had a perfect grasp of. Jackie is the best! She was able to evaluate and save my hair from itself. Due to a bad prior experience at a salon and years of color damage my hair has not been able to recover and be what it once was. Jackie was able to cut and hydrate my hair back to life. She schooled me on my misconceptions with my hair and was able to set me up with a great style plan. She was so sweet and understanding. Jackie is a Curl Savior! Through many years of damaging my hair from heat, Jackie transformed my curls with a cut that is steps closer to what they used to be and will be. She educated me on the proper care curls need, products that are suitable for my hair type, and the techniques on how to style. The salon is calming and relaxing as well as Jackie!
Jackie was awesome. She made me feel really comfortable. She was really knowledgeable About curly hair. She did great as I have really really thin hair and she was able to really make it look Fuller and teach me how to take care of it. Would definitely recommend her to Everyone.
